Since 2003, the gay male choir G-Voice has rehearsed every weekend in Seoul. The choir serves as an antidote to the homophobic society in South Korea, using a clever and humorous approach to theme the daily lives of gay men. On the occasion of their 10th anniversary, the members plan to hold their first large-scale concert, including ambitious arrangements, creative choreography, and many new works. This really put these amateur singers to the test, as some members' enthusiasm exceeded their vocal abilities, while others volunteered to put it into practice. In addition to preparing for their big day, G-Voice is also politically active, singing for equality and serenades against discrimination, not just in LGBTQ demonstrations. Director Lee Dong ha successfully, almost by chance, provided an insight into the gay life in South Korea. After the rehearsal, he also accompanied the choir members and organizers, and their conversations became more personal during meals. The background of G-Voices was filmed in a smooth music video style, and among other things, it also commented on the male experiences, conservative families, and happy lives in Korean society. 2016 Berlin Film Festival
